Mortaria manufactured at or near Corbridge (Northumberland/GB)
during the 2nd century AD; distributed across northern England
and southern Scotland. |

Fabric and technology
|
Fine-textured with slightly rough surfaces, varying from creamy-grey
to pale orange or brown; inclusions of ill-sorted quartz and some
rounded red-brown particles; quartz and black and red-brown sandstone
trituration grit. Wheel-thrown.

|
Mortaria with bead and roll flange. Gillam 242, 243, 256,
264, 266, 267.

Stamps
|
Several potters can be assigned to the Corbridge region on distributional
grounds.
