Bibliography

  • There are several papers on Montans sigillata in the Documents de Céramologie Montanaise, 1 (1997). The importance of Montans as a supplier of sigillata in Aquitaine and Brittany is illustrated by (for instance) Jaques and Martin 1997 and Martin and Triste 1997.
  • The overall distribution map of Montans sigillata published in Roman pottery in Britain illustrates a wide distribution in Iberia. This was derived from the map by Beltrán lloris (1990) which in turn is partly based on mis-attributions of stamps to Montans based on the data in Oswald's Index of potters' stamps on terra sigillata , (1931). See Martin in Bémont & Jacob (1986, 70) for a more accurate map.
